HM The King will preside over the Honorary Committee of the EU Law Summit organized by the Madrid Bar Association, within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Felipe VI chairs the Honorary Committee of an event that will bring together more than 100 international specialists to address the EU’s legal challenges.
The Summit will take place on November 16 and 17 at the Royal Collections Gallery.
Under the Honorary Presidency of HM the King, more than 100 international specialists will participate on 16 and 17 November in the “European Union Law Summit for legal professionals”, organized by the Madrid Bar Association within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The event, which will take place in the new Royal Collections Gallery, will bring together a wide range of jurists and high-ranking institutional representatives to analyze the main regulatory challenges facing the European Union in the medium and long term.
In close collaboration with the Legal Service of the European Commission, the Madrid Bar Association has developed an extensive academic programme that includes high-priority topics of the European strategic agenda such as the European Green Deal, the regulation of Artificial Intelligence, the EU’s Economic Security Strategy, and the freedom of expression of the media. The situation of the Rule of law on European soil, the Pact on Migration and Asylum and the regulation of the digital assets market will also be discussed, among many others.
In total, there will be 18 specialized panels will be held, in addition to the opening and closing plenary sessions of general scope and interest.
To facilitate attendance by all levels of the legal sector, the ICAM has established discounts for both young lawyers and legal aid lawyers. Likewise, online streaming will be available at a very low cost.

Under the title “Europe’s leadership in 21st-Century Society”, the Opening session will feature interventions by Margaritis Schinas, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Promotion of our European Way of Life; Daniel Calleja, Director-General of the Legal Service of the European Commission; Lourdes Arastey, Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU); Adrián Vázquez Lázara, Chair of the Committee on Legal Affairs of the European Parliament; and María Lledó, Secretary General for the European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
The closing session, which will tackle the priorities of tomorrow’s Europe, will also feature intervention by José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; Cani Fernández, President of the National Commission for Markets and Competition; and Teresa Mínguez, Member of the ICAM Governing Board responsible for International Affairs and co-president of the Summit, together with the President, Eugenio Ribón, and the Director-General of the Legal Service of the European Commission, Daniel Calleja.
In addition to the panels and aiming to obtain an initial assessment of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Summit will include various institutional events and meetings with national and international authorities. At the same time, there will be a social and cultural agenda for those attending and those accompanying them.
